I recently started working with a client who is using a number of French Quarter style lanterns throughout her new build. I have long loved a gracious lantern and thought I would share some of my favorites with you.
An exterior gas light lantern has long been a staple of the streets of the New Orleans' French Quarter. Over the years a number of companies have started making these lights. Gone are the days of a gas only light. Electric lights are now readily available and now the masses can enjoy these GORGEOUS custom made lights. The prices points are not as high as you may think...plus many "Bevolo" type companies have opened and are offering competitive prices and endless options for exterior and interior needs.
These gorgeous copper cage lanterns are droll worthy. Prices point range from HIGH to moderate. Most of the popular custom lantern makers like Flambeaux andCarolina Lantern can make these as a special order for a price that won't break the bank.
There are of course the high end lanterns from Noir Furniture. So beautiful! If you are savvy enough to hunt down an antique lantern, you may find a gem like this one that was sourced by Tommy Smythe (a.k.a. Sarah Richardson's BFF). He did a beautiful job bringing together all of the elements in this kitchen.

Even Pottery Barn has gotten in on the action. This lantern was first featured a few years ago. The approachable price point and indoor/outdoor use make this a very affordable option for all of those who share my lust for lanterns. If you are buying the PB version, sign up for their newsletter.
